Microsoft have recently revealed that the new next-gen motion sensor controller (or lack thereof) for the Xbox360 Console will not be functional exclusively to the Xbox360. We didn't see this coming...
The Kinect makes use of the PrimeSense Technology. I could go into details, but I won't. Basically, what PrimeSense does, is it bathes the area in front of it with infrared light, turning what it sees into code which can then be processed by your console. Sounds healthy.
Their unveiling of the Xbox360 Slim Edition and the Kinect at E3 2010 is not something that can be ushered underneath a carpet by teasing about the fact that the Xbox 360 Slim now is a victim of The Green Ring of Death (a more soothing alternative to his dreaded Red twin brother); or the rumour that the Kinect is unresponsive and lags more than the average Wii Controller. So what? They're trying something different.
Just hopefully not 'Windows Vista' different.
